Why bean bags go flat

Each EPS bead is a hollow foam ball that is mostly air. Sitting on it squashes it very slightly, and it does not fully spring back. Multiply that by thousands of beads and hundreds of sittings and the bag slowly loses volume: typically 20 to 30 per cent in the first year of daily use, slower after that. Heat speeds it up, which is why outdoor and sun-lounger bags settle faster. None of this is a fault; it is how beads work, and it is why a bean bag should be designed to be refilled.

Signs your bean bag needs a refill

You sink to the floor, or feel the floor through the base.
The bag no longer holds its shape when nobody is on it.
The top has a permanent dip and the cover looks loose and wrinkled.
An outdoor bag has gone thin at the head end.

How the Adams refill service works

Send a photo and the size on WhatsApp, or bring the bag to the Al Quoz showroom. Any brand, any shape; it does not have to be one of ours.
We open the inner liner in the workshop, never on your floor. Beads are a nightmare to spill at home, and a choking risk for small children.
We top up with virgin EPS beads to the fill level you want: firmer for a chair shape, softer for lounging.
We check the liner and zips and replace a failed liner or zip if needed.
Same day in most cases. Collection and delivery across Dubai can be arranged for larger bags.

Why not refill it myself?

You can, with a bag of beads and a lot of patience. The problems are static, which makes the beads cling to everything, the mess if the liner tears, and the difficulty of judging how much to add. A home refill also usually means pouring from an open sack with children around. We do it in minutes with a filling station, and we take the old, broken-down beads away if you want them replaced rather than topped up.

Refill, recover or replace?

If the cover is sound, refill. If the cover is faded or stained but the shape is good, we can make a new cover from our fabric library or Sunbrella for outdoor bags, and refill at the same time; this is the same workshop that does sofa reupholstery. How much does a bean bag refill cost in Dubai?

Refills are priced by the volume of beads added, so a small kids bag costs far less than a 150 cm giant. Send the size and a photo and we quote before you bring it in. Liner and zip repairs are quoted separately, and a new cover is priced on the fabric.
