Why solid ash for a dining table

Ash is one of the toughest furniture hardwoods, with a shock resistance that made it the traditional choice for tool handles and sports bats. On a dining table that means a top that shrugs off everyday knocks, and because it is solid wood rather than veneer, any mark can be sanded and re-oiled locally. The pale colour brightens a room and pairs with upholstered dining chairs in linen or boucle, or with darker walnut and black-stained chairs for contrast.

Complete the dining room

We make matching benches, dining chairs, sideboards and console tables in the same ash, and can size the Vermont to your dining room from a four-seater to a 3.5 metre table for twelve. Send a room photo or a drawing and we will quote within a day.
