Here's what a joinery-built playroom looks like, from the workshop side.

Storage first — the unglamorous hero

The difference between a playroom and a mess is closed storage at child height: deep drawers for bricks, cubbies for books face-out, cupboards that swallow the big plastic things. Built as a fitted storage wall, it uses every centimetre and survives being climbed on — because children will climb it, so we build it to be climbed.

Reading nooks and window seats

An upholstered nook — under a window, inside a storage wall, beneath a raised platform — gives the room its heart. Our upholstery team covers cushions and backrests in child-and-pet-friendly performance fabrics that survive juice, felt-tips and shoes-on sitting.

Climbing walls, ropes and the fun engineering

The requests that make the workshop smile: climbing holds on a reinforced panel, rope ladders and cargo nets, a firefighter pole from a mezzanine platform, swing fixing points, monkey bars across a ceiling run. All of it is designed into the joinery with structural fixings, age-appropriate heights and soft landing zones — agreed at the drawing stage, not improvised on site.

Platforms, dens and bunk corners

Raised platforms turn a corner of the room into a den below and a lookout above; add a mattress and it becomes a sleepover spot. This is where playrooms meet our built-in bunk rooms — one continuous piece of joinery doing three jobs.
