Cabin beds — the storage workhorse

A single bed raised just enough to fit drawers and cupboards underneath — the classic first big-kid bed for ages 4 and up. In a workshop build, the storage is real joinery: soft-close drawers sized to your room, not moulded plastic tubs.

Mid sleepers — the den-maker

Raised to roughly chest height, with the space below left open for storage boxes, a play den or a reading corner with cushions. The favourite for ages 5–10, and the one children customise endlessly. Tent panels, slides and — yes — rope details can all be built in.

High sleepers — the small-room solution

Nearly bunk height, with a full workstation below: desk, shelves, sometimes a compact sofa or wardrobe. For a Dubai apartment where a tween needs a study space, a high sleeper effectively doubles the room. Built solid, with full rails and a fixed ladder or small staircase.

Getting one made in Dubai

Because the big retailers here don't stock these formats under any name, made-to-order is the practical route — and the better one: exact sizes for your ceiling and mattress, solid oak or ash instead of foil-wrapped MDF, and safety detailing done by joiners.
